When Chloe Mendel married Smashing Pumpkins’ front man Billy Corgan last weekend in Highland Park, she sort of unofficially kicked-off fall wedding season via some timeless style and very personal glam moments.
“Jerome gave me my first haircut—he also gave my kids their first cuts,” she shares of her go-to hair guy, celeb stylist Jerome Lordet, style director at Pierre Michel Salon in New York.
“The wedding day was such a personal and momentous day for our family,” Mendel says. “It only made sense to have Jerome who has known me my whole life to be a part of this meaningful day for me. I was able to relax, have a laugh and know that he would do an amazing job. Plus, he’s such a fabulous Frenchman!”
For the look, she says she wanted both hair and makeup to feel simple and chic—with a little bit of personal ease. “I was going for a very natural and sleek direction, which I feel is elegant. Also, having my hair up in a bun made the whole day easier to manage. I didn’t have to worry about the position of my hair throughout the night. Everything held up so perfectly.”
As far as inspiration, direction and suggestions, the self-described “micromanager” Chloe Mendel sat back and left it to the pros: “I knew my glam team would do a fantastic job,” she says. “Both Aga, who did my makeup, and Jerome know me well, so I trusted them to do what they do best. It’s hard for me to not micromanage everything, but when you have the opportunity to work with very talented people, it is truly a pleasure.”
One other “beauty moment” Mendel enjoyed: A little spa visit to Brazilian Lymph Spa (she says to ask for Val) the morning of. “On the wedding morning, I treated myself to a lymphatic drainage body and facial massage! It was such a treat, and it helped me feel my best all day. I highly recommend it!”
