With the ocean as Olympic-hopeful surfer Carissa Moore’s office—she’s a four-time world champion—and smooth as skin her uniform, a partnership with Venus seems like a no-brainer for the Honolulu native. But it’s the brand’s commitment to women that makes the collaboration even more meaningful to Moore.
“I am really proud to be partnered with Venus because they are constantly striving to make positive impacts on the community. Their #MySkinMyWay campaign encourages women to feel confident in their own skin and to embrace all things that make them unique and beautiful,” says the 28 year-old surfer.
“I have struggled—and still struggle at times—with body positivity and confidence feeling like I need to fit a specific mold or ‘look’ to be accepted and validated. Venus is encouraging me and women around the world to be proud and accepting of who we are and what we look like. I love that!”
After spending the majority of her life catching the sun’s rays, it’s safe to say Moore is well-versed in the world of SPF. Her favorite? “SunBum all the way,” she says. “It rubs on smoothly, doesn’t clog the pores and smells like bananas! Doesn’t get much better than that. I’m currently in love with their new Face Mist for my everyday and the high-performance Sunscreen 50 for long hours of surfing.”
After a day in the sun, Moore cleanses with Origins Checks and Balances Cleanser ($24) and hydrates with the oil-free Ginzing Moisturizer ($31).
Moore names Venus’ new collection, Venus for Public Hair, as the ultimate secret to a smooth bikini line. “The Daily Soothing Serum exfoliates and moisturizes my skin to help give the bikini line some extra TLC. It leaves me feeling confident and ready for anything!”
Venus’ recent sustainability efforts also hit close to home for Moore. “They just introduced new packaging that reduces their use of plastic and helps take steps towards their goal of being 100-percent recyclable by 2030—that is a huge commitment! Being a water women, taking care of our planet playground is something that is near and dear to my heart.”
“It is an amazing time to be a woman,” says Moore. “We have come so far. With credit to all the woman that have come before, we are more united than ever and have such a strong voice. Being able to chase my passions and having the freedom and support to live my dreams everyday makes me feel so powerful.”
