Avocado toast is good on so many levels. Not only does it taste amazing and really fill you up, but avocado is loaded with good fat, protein and fiber, which keeps you feeling full while also flooding your body with essential nutrients. Spread over a sprouted grain toast and drizzle with some olive oil and you’ve got the makings of a wholesome breakfast or midday snack.
“Avocado will not only keep you satiated, but it is also loaded with vitamins and nutrients, it's a good source of fiber and it has been shown to improve cardiovascular health, too,” says nutritionist and author of INFLAMED, Shelly Malone.

But, avocado may have had its 15 minutes of fame. In its place: sweet potato toast, which is even easier to make than avocado toast. Plus, it removes the bread!
#sweetpotatotoast has been popping up on my Facebook so I finally tried it and OMG. I drizzled mine with a chili olive oil and topped with some chili flakes and salt. Heaven! I could eat this every morning! Just slice up a sweet potato to toast thickness and pop it in the toaster twice. (I stuck mine in a toaster oven). Top with whatever yummy toppings you'd like! #paleo #cleaneating #avocadotoast
Toasting thick slices of sweet potato (in the toaster over until they’re crunchy) and topping them with just about anything—think avocado, almond butter or dairy-free cheese—is actually healthier and better for you because it isn’t bread-based. “Many people have difficulty digesting gluten (in bread) and it can be inflammatory. Some people, like those with digestive issues or severe autoimmune diseases, may not be able to tolerate grains at all,” says Malone. “Sweet potatoes still provide the fiber and B vitamins you get in whole grain bread while being better tolerated. Plus, they are high in calcium, potassium and vitamins A and C.”
When it comes to bread, it’s always best to watch your intake of it and keep your portions limited. But with sweet potato toast, there’s not that concern. So enjoy it and eat up!
