While other aestheticians of her accolade boast a list of celebrity clientele, Tammy Fender prefers keeping the company of the chickens at her at-home coop and watching her plants grow—both big factors in what fuels the ingredients and inspiration at her West Palm Beach spa. “For me it’s all about the delicacy, the golden light and the aliveness of the plants.”

Day Break

Before the sun comes up, Fender spends an hour in prayer and meditation. “Before the day gets started, I walk with my daughter and we choose herbs for our tea. I also spend a moment or two selecting a special essential oil, which I wear on my wrists.”

Fender considers herself lucky to be at a spa that has the luxury of getting a daily fresh-juice delivery. “These days, it’s kale, spinach, pineapple and kiwi for me.”

Magic Medium

She lists Dare to Be Wild as her favorite movie; when it comes to music, she loves all types, but especially Spanish guitar. “I love any books on plants or spirituality, and especially those that combine the two.”

Weekend Retreat

Days out of the spa include time with family: “I love to go anywhere I can be in nature with my family. Last year, we recently went to Ireland and hiked in the French Alps. I also love going to The Breakers, which is right down the street, and we love to plan weekends away at our house in the outer Bahamas.”

The Essentials

“I’m never without my little collection of essential oils, my iPhone, my very old creative journal where I still handwrite all my ideas and inspirations, and a small spritzer bottle of my floral toner Essential-C Tonic.”

Fuel Up

After her daughter begins her school day, Fender slips into her outside infrared sauna, which overlooks a Zen garden. “I’m only there for 15 minutes, but it fuels my day. I dry-brush for five minutes, take in a favorite essential oil and wrap a cold towel around my neck. Afterwards, I take a cold shower to stimulate my lymphatic system.”
