Self-tanners are a dime a dozen-they come in nearly every type of formula imaginable and every application method, too. From do-it-yourself creams and at-home sprays to professional spray tans that ensure a more precise application (because of smaller molecular size that’s output by the machine), all self-tanners work to temporarily darken the color of the skin, making ripples, dimples and pockets less noticeable-and it works especially well to disguise cellulite on the butt and thighs.
“When the skin is pale and light, every imperfection shows. But, they’re not as apparent when the skin is darker,” says master airbrush tanner Anna Stankiewicz of Suvara spray tans, which incorporates vitamins, anti-agers and nutrients into a 100-percent natural formula to rejuvenate and protect the skin. “Think of a spray tan like makeup for the body. Just how foundation covers flaws, a faux tan does the same for hiding cellulite,” says Stankiewicz.
Self tanner acts as a quick fix for camouflaging cellulite but the results are short-lived at best and the cellulite itself won’t be affected. But it’s still a great idea for special events, vacation or any other occasion when you need to “hide” cellulite.
