I Tried All Four Good Science Beauty Moisturizers and These Are My Thoughts featured image

I can’t tell you how many moisturizers I’ve tried over the years that didn’t make it past the first day on my vanity. Wonder why? Texture! The way something feels on my skin and the way it absorbs are paramount for me, and I’m sure many of you would agree. That’s one reason I became so interested in Good Science Beauty, after hearing incredible things about the textures of all four of its best-selling face creams. They’re more like serums honestly, and they don’t disappoint. (The formulas are pretty great, too.) These are my thoughts on each one.

My Skin Type:

Combination. I’m drier in the cold-weather months and oilier in the warm-weather ones thanks to the high humidity on the East Coast.

The Benefits:

One of the key secrets behind these moisturizers is the brand’s patented Good Silicon+ technology, which is a carrier technology designed to make the ingredients inside each bottle more effective. Essentially, it helps keep the active ingredients bioavailable and protects them from degrading. It also works to boost their absorption into the skin, and releases them in the skin over time. These are the details on each one.

003-Hy Hydrating Face Cream

My favorite of the bunch is the 003-Hy Hydrating Face Cream, so I’m going to start with that one. This time of year, my skin seems parched no matter how much hyaluronic acid I slather on and no matter how many humidifiers I have on around my house. When I use this cream, I really notice a difference in how long my skin retains the moisture. The key to the moisture retention is that hyaluronic acid is paired with marine omega-3, and Good Science Beauty has figured out a way to formulate fish-derived omega-3 fatty acids with no unpleasant smell.

Because hyaluronic acid and peptides help plump up the skin, this cream also helps minimize fine lines, too. In clinical testing, participants experienced a 94-percent reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles in only four weeks.

004-Br Skin Brightening Cream

My second favorite in the group is the 004-Br Skin Brightening Cream because uneven skin tone is one of my biggest personal gripes. With glutathione (a radiance-boosting antioxidant that’s trending big-time right now) and melatonin (an antioxidant that amplifies the effectiveness of glutathione), I was already impressed, but it also includes gold-standard dark-spot fighter vitamin C. The texture feels more like a serum and it goes on super smooth. This is the only one of the four that has a scent, and it’s a little earthy/botanical, but it dissipated fast after I applied it.

001-Pu Purifying Face Cream

For those with acne-prone skin and/or who want to make their large pores less visible, try the 001-Pu Purifying Face Cream. It’s lightweight with a gel-cream texture and also works well as a makeup primer. The brand says you can also use it as a soothing aftershave lotion, or to prevent razor bumps from ingrown hair. A clinical study showed a 96-percent reduction in blemishes after using the cream for 30 days.

005-Fi Skin Firming Cream

Last but not least, the 005-Fi Skin Firming Cream is for anyone who is looking to target more advanced signs of aging like wrinkles and loss of elasticity. Again, the texture is lightweight and it feels really refreshing and nourishing on the skin (I’ve really enjoyed all four textures, and nothing is greasy or heavy; all absorb nearly instantly). The brand says you can also use this as an eye cream, which is a bonus and eliminates the need for another product in your routine. The key ingredient is poria cocos, a mushroom that is rich in beta glucan and helps kickstart collagen production in the skin. It also strengthens the skin barrier.

Key Ingredients:

001-Pu: Willow bark, niacinamide and oligopeptide-10; 003-Hy: Marine omega-3 and hyaluronic acid; 004-Br glutathione, melatonin, and vitamin C; 005-Fi: Barley extract and poria cocos

How to Use Them:

These creams are great for layering, but if I use two or more, I like to let my skin dry for a minute in between putting on the next one (just to make sure they don’t pill, and they haven’t so far). Apply one to two pumps of each one on clean, dry skin, and don’t forget your neck!

The Bottom Line:

Whether you have breakouts, dry skin or something in between, one of these skin-perfecting creams holds the solution.

Price/Where to Buy:
