Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and John Russo has made a career out of capturing the beauty that is all around us. With a roster of A-list clients from Leonardo DiCaprio to Elizabeth Olsen, Russo is no stranger to a bustling lifestyle. But, when he’s not behind the lens, he’s savoring the simple things.
State of Mind
“I am super happy and fulfilled in every aspect of my life. Physically, I’m into creating fine art, using my camera of course! Mentally, I’m on the island of Capri diving into the sea, and spiritually, I’m with my mom and dad.”
Favorite Things
Russo loves Dove Silky Nourishment Body Cream ($8.95) and Aesop Reverence Aromatique Hand Balm ($33), as well as Blu Atlas’s Shampoo, Conditioner and Body Wash ($71). His other prized possession: His labor of love, 100 Making a Difference, a book of the world’s top humanitarians and philanthropists, which he produced.
Life Lessons
“One of the most important things I’ve ever learned is that I don’t need to be working as much as I used to. I’ve come to understand that time with the people I love is most important.”
Morning Glory
Sometimes, simple is better. For Russo, the perfect morning skin-care routine consists of a quick wash with warm water, a washcloth and his beloved Act of Being HP+ Daily Face Wash.
Fashion Show
“In terms of my wardrobe, right now I’m obsessed with everything Varvatos, Gucci and Hermès, and of course, my tie-dyed blue Champion sweatshirt from Marshalls.”
Evening Ritual
“I love to end the day with a nice steam shower and a luxurious balancing face oil from the SURYA Spa in Santa Monica.”
