No stranger to the fragrance game, Jessica Simpson latest beauty venture involves launching a new signature scent, Fiend—a mix of skin musk, sensual woods and amber with touches of smoked sage, tiger lily, and velvet orris—at HSN. As the 40-year-old exclusively told us, the sexy perfume is all about delivering a message that is incredibly important to her: that of instilling, and having, confidence.
What was the first fragrance you ever wore?
Amarige by Givenchy.
What is it about this particular fragrance that is so special?
I use essential oils every day and find them so powerful. To enhance or relax my spiritual and physical energies, I put drops of bergamot, sandalwood, sage, and gardenia in my day or night bath routine. I find that the right combination of scents can alter my mood and create an aura—whether that be sensual or romantic. I wanted to make this particular fragrance unique and a gateway to the passion that we are all ready to unleash in different ways.
The description is about instilling the message of confidence. What is confidence to you?
Confidence to me is understanding myself with compassion and owning the strength it takes to be unapologetically me. I believe that when we accept ourselves and appreciate the skin we are in, we can discover confidence, true purpose and inspiration. Once we get to know ourselves, there is so much beauty to wear proudly.
You recently said this past year was an “intense one.” What are you most looking forward to as we go into April?
Although this past year was challenging for me, it has also been rewarding because it has given me so many emotional and mental breakthroughs—to live life freely and more abundantly than ever with nothing blocking the path, to create the narrative to successful dreams, to break away from patterns and expectations that are hindrances to purpose. For me, I was intuitively inspired when I had alone time to journal and understand myself better. I was able to tap into the creative side that I haven’t shared in far too long. Although my patience was tested, it was worth persevering and exercising patience. God’s timing and grace always proves to be perfect.
