Does Asian Ethnicity Warrant Different Botox Use?

Those of Asian descent have distinct facial features, such as smaller, wider-set eyes. Botox or Dysport can be injected under the eyes to open them up more, but not necessarily using the same technique that would be used in patients of other ethnicities.

Some studies suggest that Botox and Dysport should be used slightly differently in those of Asian descent, since the eyelids are naturally smaller and have a different anatomy of fat, which often results in a less defined crease above the lashes.

It has been shown that, in Asian women, a slightly lower dose is preferred and offers a better cosmetic result in comparison to the standard dose used in Caucasians.

Furthermore, the position of Botox injections should be different in Asians to achieve a natural-looking improvement.
