How Christie Brinkley is Beating Wrinkles

We recently sat down with the seemingly ageless Christie Brinkley at the launch event for her new skin-care line, Christie Brinkley Authentic Skincare. To say that this former supermodel “looks good for her age” is a gross understatement of the facts. She looks amazing.
At age 61, Christie has the face and body that we could have only wished for at age 30. So, how does she do it? Well, one thing is for sure, the woman knows her stuff. As Christie began explaining her intentions behind creating an anti-aging skin-care brand, it became quite obvious that working in the industry of beauty for the past few decades has provided her with a wealth of knowledge about proper skin care, and most importantly, preventive measures. “Since I started modeling 40 years ago, I have always looked for the best ways to take care of my skin, so a skin-care line just seemed like a natural extension,” she says.
The new line is a joint venture with New York dermatologist Doris Day, MD, and focuses on what Christie says is the best anti-aging strategy—products and formulations that help roll back damage from the sun and protect skin from future environmental damage.
The most exciting product from the line is Recapture Day + IR Defense Anti-Aging Day Cream ($90)—a multilevel, anti-aging treatment that uses a proprietary blend of advanced plant extracts, amino acids and copper to firm and smooth skin. But, the real kicker is the scientifically advanced technology formulated to protect skin from infrared rays.
While it’s not yet widely talked about, infrared radiation is one of the major players when it comes to photodamage in skin (think brown spots and wrinkles) however, most sunscreens only protect exclusively from ultraviolet rays (UVA and UVB). That means that most formulations don't shield skin from the sun's total oxidative toll, and therefore can’t properly prevent photo-aging.
The proof is proverbially in the pudding, but if it’s what Christie is using, we think it might be worth a try.
