It’s not unusual to hear about celebrities on a diet who are attempting to lose weight and tone up. However, hearing about one of Hollywood’s elite trying to gain weight is another thing entirely. Rarely do celebrities announce they’ll be trying to pack on the pounds, which is what makes Anne Hathaway’s latest announcement so unique.

In a video posted to her Instagram account, Hathaway is seen working out at a gym. She captioned the post: “I am gaining weight for a movie role and it is going well. To all the people who are going to fat shame me in the upcoming months, it’s not me, it’s you.”
The 35-year-old actress also declared she “wanted to set this to Queen’s ‘Fat Bottomed Girls’ but copyright said no.” Talk about an epic mic drop to the haters.
Unsurprisingly, Hathaway is no stranger to shutting down body shamers on social media. In 2016, she wrote about pregnancy weight gain on her Instagram, saying “There is no shame in gaining weight during pregnancy (or ever). There is no shame if it takes longer than you think it will to lose the weight (if you want to lose it at all).” So, friendly reminder to all the body shamers out there, Hathaway will have none of it. As the saying goes, if you have don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.
