Now that’s how you create a viral campaign! In Khloé Kardashian’s latest collaboration with the activewear brand Fabletics, the 39-year-old debuted a fresh new hair color that’s as trendy as it gets.

In campaign images shared on Monday, April 1, the Good American founder embraced a dramatic change, trading her blonde hair for a more understated red shade, known among hairstylists as “cowboy copper.” As previously told to NewBeauty last September, celebrity colorist Rita Hazan explained that it “has a little brown hue to it, so it’s not so vibrant.”

“There are many shades of cowboy copper, some lighter and brighter, some more brown and rich,” she continued, “but regular copper tends to be brighter and more intense in color as opposed to the more subdued cowboy copper.”

Considering that this photoshoot likely took place months back, it’s possible that Kardashian has already transitioned back to her blonde hair. Nonetheless, this doesn’t make it any less iconic. In an Instagram post shared by the campaign star, countless followers concurred that the color complements her perfectly. “YES KOKO!!!!” wrote celebrity hairstylist Irinel de León, who was responsible for the fiery look. “I love that we chose red hair for this!!!”

This marks Kardashian’s third collection with Fabletics, hence its name, V3. In the campaign images, she wore her hair down with a center part, styled in beachy waves. She showcased the 26-piece line of limited-edition items, which includes summery activewear and swimwear. One look that’s bound to be a top-seller? A monochrome red tank top and biker shorts ensemble, paired with a matching fanny pack. It exudes a sexy lifeguard vibe and perfectly complements her new hair color.

Getting your hands on Kardashian’s activewear ensemble is easy, but copping her hair color will be a little more complex. You’ll be in good company, though. After all, cowboy copper hair has emerged as one of the standout hair color trends of 2024. At the 2024 Critics Choice Awards in January, Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, and Danielle Brooks were among those who hit the red carpet with red hair.

Cowboy copper is, without a doubt, a stylish way to ease into the red hair trend. In a previous interview with NewBeauty, celebrity colorist Chad Kenyon advised being specific when discussing your prospective new hue with your hair colorist.

“Ask your colorist for a level 6 or 6.5 double or triple cooper with added in gold and even less neutral—an additional possibility is adding in level 7 highlights on top of the global color if you want more ‘movement,'” he explained. “I would steer clear of actually adding red to the formula as very few ‘redheads’ actually have red in their hair, generally it’s copper and gold or gold and copper.”
