When we think of celebrities today who we consider to be—as Gen Z has popularized it—”Mother,” two names immediately come to mind: Meghan Trainor and Kelly Clarkson. Between Trainor’s latest single, “Mother” where she embraces her maternal vibes and Clarkson’s ever so warm and welcoming persona on stage and on her hit talk show, we trust these two moms like they were our own. Just last week, our celebrity mothers met up on Clarkson’s show and got real about their experiences with facial hair.
While Trainor was on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Clarkson asked the soon-to-be mother of two to explain a TikTok she made back in March where she is seen showing her brother how she shaves her face. “Oh, I’m shaving my beard, my peach!” Trainor playfully responded. After joking with one another about the risk of cutting your face while shaving, Clarkson pivoted the conversation to shed some much needed light on the commonality of women with facial hair.
“People don’t talk about this. Let’s talk about it,” Clarkson began in reference to the fact that many women feel ashamed of the natural hair that grows on their face especially with age. In her signature, humorous way, Trainor responded, “I’m fuzzy wuzzy!” The two continued on to discuss how women tend to grow “peach fuzz” on their faces with age, normalizing and lightening the topic as they talked.
Trainor even opened up about the firs time she noticed her facial fuzzies on the set of her “Lips Are Moving” music video back in 2015. “I saw it in the ‘Lips Are Moving’ music video. They’re like, ‘We’re gonna do a close-up on your lips.’ I was like, ‘I have a mustache. Why did no one tell me?’” she explains, “And so on big important days, when I know we’re doing a music video, I will shave the night before [or] the day of.”
