“I literally had to delay this project for a year so I could make sure that we could colorize the cords! I am a stickler for details when developing all of our products at FLOWER and truly believe women want to see pretty things on their bathroom counters,” Barrymore shared on social media..
The six-piece line of hair tools—available exclusively at Walmart—was specifically designed to make styling easier for all hair types. (The range includes a dryer, travel dryer, iron, straightening brush, volumizing styler, and rotating styling iron.) But, as the brand’s manufacturing partner, InStyler, told us, getting those beautiful, bold, just-right colors—specifically, as Barrymore suggested, with the cords—wasn’t totally in line with that theme.
“Most brands take the easy route and go with black for the electrical components, because it’s faster, cheaper and easier to get the cords, plugs and other parts. However, for FLOWER Hair Tools, we strived for excellence at all levels—from the color to the performance—to create high-quality hair tools at an affordable price.”
What’s more, the engineers said they were challenged “to manufacture different electrical components that work together plus pass ETL certifications to be safe for use in people’s homes, while providing high-quality, innovation and ease of use for everyone.”
“Getting each of these components, which have different textures, to match in the fun, exciting colors that Drew wanted them to be, added to this challenge.”
