On one of my very first assignments at NewBeauty, I flew to the college town of Aaachen, Germany, a fairytale-like destination on the border of Belgium and The Netherlands that also happens to be home base—and has been to the tune of 60-plus years—for the classic brand of Babor.
We spent 48 hours exploring, testing the products, seeing the lab and learning the “just-right” way (shake, break at the thinnest point, mix in the palm of your hand, and apply) to open the brand’s classic skin-care ampoules. When it was time to fly back home, the team at the headquarters met us to say their good-byes before we headed to the airport. For the traveling group, we were taking away some newfound knowledge of the science and solutions behind the popular global spa brand; for the Babor team, it was simply a treasured local business that the majority of them (some, for generations) were proud to say they worked at for many years—and even prouder to say that the products were produced with their stamp of approval.
Many ampoules (and more years than I care to admit) later, I still remember that tightknit crew when I break one open. The outside packaging has slightly changed, but the delivery system and potent ingredients found inside are steadfastly solid and consistently effective.
