Twice a year, our eyes go into sensory overload with the fashion and beauty spectacle that is New York Fashion Week. While we immediately try to copy many of the makeup looks we see on the runway, there are always a few that we are hesitant to try (like this bottom lid eyeliner look from last year’s London fashion week). Case in point: the colorful floating eyeliner that the models sported at Michael Kors’ spring 2013 show.
It’s definitely an eye-catching look, but is it one that we can translate to real life? glo minerals makeup artist Kate McCarthy says, “Yes! This look can be worn in real life. People will be pleasantly surprised by the unexpected pop of color!”
To get the look, use a bright eyeliner color to make a thin, lightly blended line in your crease. “Keeping it in your crease instead of above it will make it more user friendly,” says McCarthy. “Apply a line right into your crease from inner corner to outer corner, then using a smudge brush and a lighter shade of shadow, blend into the liner keeping it thin.”
Don’t forget to wear mascara and keep the rest of your face nude, fresh and dewy so you don’t overdo it. McCarthy likes to use a super thin eyeliner like glo minerals Precise Micro Liner ($12) in teal.
