When it comes to gender rivalry, the differences between men and women are often polarizing, but, according to one new survey, there’s one area where women definitively rule. So for anyone who might be keeping score in the battle of the sexes, you can go ahead and check the win column for women when it comes to taking care of our teeth.
A recent study revealed that women are one-step ahead of men when it comes to maintaining oral health. The study involved more than 800 participants, ages 18 to 19, who all received dental exams and completed a questionnaire, inquiring about lifestyle, dental knowledge, dental attitude and health behaviors. Results revealed that women were more likely to have had a dental check-up in the last year and schedule follow-up treatment when necessary. Women also showed fewer signs of dental plaque, calculus and bleeding, which are all indicators of periodontal disease.
