When you think of toothpaste, you think of a tube—and you probably can’t think of a world (or your very own bathroom) sporting something different.

But Poppits Toothpaste Pods might be able to help you picture it. The tiny product—think of a plastic-like pillow filled with gel, shrunk down to the size of a fingerprint—is intended to act like one individual, perfectly measured drop of toothpaste. You pop one in your mouth, the softgel outside dissolves (kind of like those breath strips) and releases the gel toothpaste, and you brush as usual.

So what’s the benefit? For starters, there’s the whole travel-lighter component and the regular version offers up whitening benefits. Plus, the company says it helps eliminate that whole “wasted toothpaste-buildup thing” and it’s way more eco-friendly than the standard tube, which can take a whooping 500 years to biodegrade.

But another big difference difference? This toothpaste doesn’t contain fluoride, which the CDC still says is essential—that every $1 invested in fluoridation saves about $38 in dental treatment costs. Here’s hoping the next itineration of these pods contain them.
