Grocery stores across the U.S., including Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s and Walmart, have issued a recall on certain vegetable products from supplier Mann Packing after a random sampling by a Canadian Food Inspection Agency found a positive result for listeria.
Trader Joe’s is recalling its Kohlrabi Salad Blend, Whole Foods Market is recalling certain salads from 10 of its stores in California and Walmart is recalling particular bagged veggies, including broccoli and cauliflower. Regional grocery chains such as Albertsons, Safeway, Vons, Meijer and Pak N’ Save have also been affected, as they are voluntarily pulling certain packed produce and fresh veggie items. The affected items are listed as “best if used by” October 11 to October 20.

Currently, there are no reported illnesses with any of these products, but it’s better to dispose of the items or return them to the store where you purchased them than risk listeria, which is a dangerous bacteria that can weaken the immune system and cause fever, headaches, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea.
