The number of people undergoing cosmetic procedures has doubled in the past 13 years (to the tune of 9.3 million people), but where is the majority of that action taking place? KLS News in Utah crunched some numbers to find out.
The formula looked at how many board-certified plastic surgeons there were per resident in each state. Think the top state might be California? Florida? New York? Nope. Washington, D.C. had the impressive ratio of one plastic surgeon for every 27,351 residents. Next came Maryland followed by Florida, New York and California.
So what procedures are people getting? According to the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, breast augmentation, liposuction, eyelid surgery, tummy tucks and breast reduction are the most common surgeries, while facial injections, fillers, laser hair removal, laser skin resurfacing and chemical peels are the most sought-after non-surgical procedures.
How do you think your state stacks up in the quest for aesthetic procedures? To see if your state made the list, go to the KLS News website.
