According to a recent study, those suffering from psoriasis, a chronic skin condition characterized by scaly red patches and inflammation caused by an abnormally high rate of skin-cell growth, may find relief in the form of weight loss.
As we have previously reported, the inflammation that is associated with psoriasis is also related to obesity. And in a study published in JAMA Dermatology, weight loss was determined to be a factor in alleviating symptoms of psoriasis. In the study, 60 overweight patients were placed in controlled groups, one of which was placed on a restricted calorie diet. In addition to weight loss, members of that group also experienced improved skin and a decrease in psoriasis symptoms.
In the meantime we will continue to keep you posted on breakthrough treatments like this one that might also help alleviate psoriasis.
