**UPDATE January 24, 2017
It appears as though the legal battle between Kylie Cosmetics, makeup artist Vlada Haggerty and photographer Julia Kuzmenko has officially been settled. An hour ago, Kylie Jenner posted the below Instagram photo, officially giving Haggerty and Kusmenko the creative rights they were due all along, which the photographer then reposted with the caption, “We are very happy to share that the issue has been resolved. Thanks so much to every single one of you creative souls who supported us, we truly appreciate you.”

Kylie Jenner’s cosmetics line has been under fire more than a few times since its inception, but this time a big-time makeup artist is at the forefront of a legal battle against the youngest member of the Kardashian/Jenner family. Makeup artist Vlada Haggerty has publicly alleged that Kenner’s makeup line blatantly ripped off her creative work, but, according to WWD, a lawsuit has now been confirmed via email, replying a simple, “Yes, they are accurate,” (and denying further commentary) to the question of whether or not the reports saying Haggerty would sue were genuine.
The below image is the project in question. It’s obvious that in both images a model with stark red lips and eyes covered with gold painted hands is present, but to many, Kylie Cosmetics’ image would be known as the original if Haggerty had not spoken up about the duplicity. Naturally, the makeup artist took to Instagram to voice her anger: “Really, @kyliecosmetics? Haven’t you gotten enough ‘inspiration’ from me already?”, she wrote in the caption.

Since then, photographer Julia Kuzmenko, who shot the image in dispute, shared a blog post entitled “Our Side of the Story” in response to this, explaining that the original image (shot on September 17) was inspired by a “see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil.” concept that she shared on her Instagram a few days later.
Shockingly enough, this is not the first public battle between Haggerty and Kylie Cosmetics. Soon after the first product debuted in 2015, the brand revealed an image of lips dripping in gloss (an image that has quickly become the face of Kylie Cosmetics), another theme found in Haggerty’s work, though Jenner’s representatives did not respond to requests for commentary.
