Millions tuned into the Love Is Blind Season 8 reunion on Sunday, March 9, and while the drama and tension had us glued to the screen, something else caught our attention: Vanessa Lachey’s picture-perfect blowout. The host’s glossy, loose cascading waves deserved its own moment in the spotlight, so we took to the internet to get the details on the brand behind it, not to mention, how to get the look at home.
The mastermind behind the style, celebrity hairstylist Ashlee Rose, shared exactly how she brought Lachey’s strands to life. “I started with the milk_shake’s incredible milk ($28) on her damp hair,” she began. “I applied it directly from mid-shaft to her ends. I then went through and added the milk_shake incredible oil ($36). Both products are great to add shine and seal the hair shaft to avoid frizziness.”
Next came layering in even more shine. “I then sprayed the incredible oil onto my hands, applying it mid-shaft to ends and then I also went through and just directly sprayed it on her hair section by section to really ensure I got the full shine potential,” she continued. “I love this oil because it isn’t greasy and doesn’t weigh the hair down. I also loved using the milk_shake lifestyling volumizing mousse ($21). I added this mousse mid shaft to ends on each section that I blew out. I used my round brush to over direct her blowout to really get the most volume I could.”
To lock in the volume, Rose “pinned and rolled each round brushed section of hair.” Once that was set, she reached for milk_shake lifestyling flexible hold hairspray ($26) to give the curls staying power. “I also really love this hairspray because it gives hold but it is brushable and doesn’t leave any product residue.”
For the finishing touches, Rose let the hair cool before brushing through each section. After that, she says, “I then went through with my 2-inch curling iron to just add some more defined curls here and there. Once I had her fully styled out, I went back through with the milk_shake incredible oil on my hands to just make sure I had the flyaway’s tamed and the shine was shining! For my last step, I went through and gave her a mist of the flexible hold hairspray to just set and hold her finished look.” See it for yourself below.
