If you don’t think you’re ready for a facelift but you’re interested in something more permanent than injectable fillers, you might find a happy medium with the longer-lasting option of a fat transfer.
First, liposuction is used to harvest fat from an area such as the hips or thighs. After being prepared, it is put in small syringes and then strategically reinjected to replace lost volume or reshape the face. The fat is commonly injected in the hollows under the eyes, in the midface, the nasolabial folds, the lips, around the mouth, along the jawline and beyond.
Today’s injection techniques allow doctors to place the fat in a manner where a significant number of the fat cells will survive, providing long-term results. However, the difference in permanence and procedural complexity means a difference in price: fat injections can cost much more than other injectable treatments.
