Conquer Future Aging Now With a Necklift

It’s all about balance. Each part of the face ages at a different rate, which is why you should tend to changes as they occur. “You need to be selective as to what you have done and when you do it,” says Englewood, NJ, plastic surgeon Geoffrey Tobias, MD. “If you only focus on your eyes and not the brows or upper cheeks, your surgeries may be doing you a disservice. You don’t want a disjunction between one feature and another,” he says. “Addressing each feature at the right time—when changes are noticeable— allows the face to age as a whole,” says Troy, MI, plastic surgeon Anthony Youn, MD.

In Your 50s or 60s, if you have a necklift there will be less loose skin and fat in the neck area. A less-than-taut neck and jawline is a dead giveaway to your true age. Surgically removing extra fat and skin helps create a stronger, more defined neckline. Liposuction of the neck is different than a necklift: liposuction strictly removes excess fat; a necklift can be coupled with liposuction, and it gets rid of extra skin while repositioning the underlying tissues and muscles. “If you had liposuction under your chin when you were younger, it’s not uncommon for superfluous skin to be removed since the issues at this age are usually skin related,” says Dr. Anthony Youn.

Will You Need To Do It Again? Probably not. The results are long-lasting.
