Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Jorge L. Menendez performs the full range of cosmetic procedures, from facelifts and Botox to abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), liposuction and breast augmentation. Dr. Menendez continues to use Juvederm extensively to contour areas of the face requiring enhancement. Regardless of the procedure performed, Dr. Menendez personally sees his patients numerous times during the pre-operative stage so that patients are fully educated on all aspects of their procedures. And, for the added safety and security of his patients, Dr. Menendez provides special services, such as extensive workups and intensive pre-operative instructions, which include a nutrition program and skin-care regimen to optimize tissues for procedures.
About Dr. Menendez
Keeping close ties with his past has helped Dr. Menendez create a better future for himself and his patients. He immigrated to the United States from Cuba in 1968, when he was just 10 years old. Drawing from that experience has helped him offer great understanding and comfort to everyone he meets. “One of the most important philosophies I believe is that the doctor really has to listen to the patient, and you have to tailor his or her procedure based on their desires and expectations— not the surgeon’s. Sometimes there are unrealistic expectations and you have to dispel some myths, but bringing things down to reality is the key to success.” Dr. Menendez says that he leans toward the conservative side when it comes to the cosmetic enhancement procedures he performs, favoring minimally invasive treatments over more invasive ones. For example, when administering Botox®, Dr. Menendez completes the treatment over the course of two visits. “Using very fine needles, I treat a portion of the brow initially and then enhance it two to three weeks later,” he says. When more invasive surgical procedures are required, Dr. Menendez is on hand both pre- and post- treatment. “I’ll always do a follow-up after treatment and often make house visits on the weekend if patients can’t make it to the center.” In addition to his work as a surgeon, Dr. Menendez has an avid interest in cooking and is currently writing a cookbook entitled, The Surgeon’s Table. “Cooking is an artistic endeavor, and a passionate interest of mine,” says Dr. Menendez, who also enjoys the ocean, and dreams to set sail from Maine to the Havana Harbor one day.
