A Minute With

1.
WHY DO YOU EMPLOY A LESS-IS-MORE APPROACH?
Too much of one spice spoils even the best dish. We are conservative with multiple techniques to create a natural look and feel. Making the patient look overdone can create a dated look, change expressions and actually be aging. A fresh, natural, sophisticated approach to rejuvenation is always in style
2.
WHAT NEW SERVICES ARE YOU MOST EXCITED TO OFFER?
Our practice is on the cutting edge of blepharoplasty revision, ptosis and prominent eyes; scar reduction and surgery for patients with protruding eyes and thyroid eye disease. We have developed advanced compression surgeries and the undetectable “Eye Lipo,” which is performed completely behind the eye, in the socket
3.
WHAT IS YOUR MOST REQUESTED PROCEDURE?
Cosmetic surgery restoring natural eye appearance and functionality as a revision procedure or after disease
4.
HOW CAN YOU TELL IF AN EYELIFT OR BROWLIFT IS APPROPRIATE?
We do a lot of discussion in the office and some testing. We also look at old photos to know what things looked like before. We may also try a few other advanced protocols or technologies to gauge skin reaction and improvements before the surgical option. But generally, I have experience doing this thousands of times over two decades and I am pretty clear on when the skin will no longer react to treatment and surgery is the patient’s best option. There are various ways to approach the surgery now, and there are times a browlift may not be necessary. We are doing fewer and fewer of these
5.
HOW DO YOU SHOW PATIENTS YOU CARE POST-TREATMENT?
I spend an inordinate amount of time on follow-up with my patients. I tweak with fillers as needed and I meet in person, via telemedicine or check-in calls during the post-surgery process
6.
HOW I WOULD SPEND EXTRA TIME IN A DAY
Biking and reading
7.
MY DREAM INNOVATION
A cure for autoimmune diseases that are affecting 20 million Americans alone
8.
MY MOTTO
Make a difference, find your passion and pursue it to the fullest

Philosophy

With extensive training and focused experience, board-certified oculoplastic surgeon Dr. Raymond Douglas is known as Beverly Hills’ go-to “Eye Guy.” He has honed his specialized surgical techniques to address both eye aesthetics and function. His core belief that medicine and surgery should be combined with a holistic approach to overall wellness has made him a proponent of an anti-inflammatory lifestyle for beauty, health, longevity, and preventive medicine. He is best known for his compassionate care and the natural-looking results he delivers. “The concept of the eyes being the windows to the soul is true, and the way we emote and express through our eyes is essential,” he says. “They are how we see the world, but because they are the feature that people notice first, they’re also how the world first sees us. Movement of the eyes and eyelids, the shape of the eyelid and the position of the eye must always appear artistic, natural, complementary and contoured after surgery. Even the most aesthetically pleasing, artful surgery must retain full functionality.”
