My obsession with eyeliner dates back to when I first started wearing eye makeup in 9th grade. The very first time I rimmed my inner waterline with a cheap black pencil, I was hooked. I loved how more defined my eyes looked and how it made them ‘pop’.

Over the years, I’ve tried hundreds of different brands, different formulas and even different colors. I’ve teetered back and forth between pencil, gel and cream. But no matter what I’m using at the moment, I pretty much do my eyeliner the same (even though my look has evolved over the years). Right now, I’m really into drawing a semi-thick line under my eyes and smudging it out with a brush and then lining the inner waterline.
My issue with eyeliner, despite the fact that I love how it looks, is that it never seems to last. It smudges, runs and gathers at the corners of my eyes. Sometimes my liner shifts so much from where I put it that by the time I get to the office I have to reapply it. But I think I may have finally found an answer to my problem and it’s as simple as a classic black eyeliner pencil.
I haven’t used a pencil in quite awhile—the last two years I’ve favored a gel cream for the waterline and shadow under my eyes. I’m always up for trying something new, especially when it comes to makeup, and figured I had nothing to loose giving the Urban Decay Perversion Eyeliner 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil ($20) a shot.
This blacker-than-black liner is THE perfect pencil for creating a smudged out look (you can use it for basically anything) and here’s why: it literally glides on in one fell swoop, it’s super pigmented and it stays put. Now that I’ve tried it, I’ve become obsessed with it. And, while I won’t toss my standby eyeliners just yet, they have been relegated to the back of the drawer and I’ve let the Perversion Eyeliner 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil take center stage.
