I’m an every-morning-smoothie type of girl. It’s the way I start my day and it makes me feel good knowing that I’m getting a mega dose of nutrients—my go-to is spinach, banana, strawberry, flaxseed and protein powder, but I like to mix it up from time to time.
However, there are definitely those days when I wake up on the wrong side of the bed and realize I don’t have any ripe bananas and I have to settle for some granola bar of sorts that I know probably isn’t very healthy for me. It’s on these particular mornings that a pre-made, but healthy breakfast could really come in handy. And if you’re a busy mom, you’d probably love something like that. Well good news, it exists. Enter: Daily Harvest, a ready-to-blend smoothie company that delivers the goods right to your front door.

When I saw the brand’s flavor lineup, I jumped at the chance to try it. They have really unique blends—a few of my favorites are watermelon/cucumber, cacao/avocado and pineapple/matcha—made of frozen, 98-percent organic ingredients that taste incredibly fresh. Daily Harvest says it’s “bringing frozen back” and that its fruits and vegetables are “flash frozen” after they are picked at peak maturity to maintain nutrient density without adding preservatives or sugar. I also appreciate that all of the ingredients are listed on each cup so you know exactly what you’re eating, and none of them are “mystery ingredients” that you don’t know about or can’t pronounce.
The photo below gives you an inside look (this is the Strawberry/Peach flavor) at my at-home experience. The containers are small enough to fit in your freezer without adding too much bulk, and the process is simple: Dump the contents into the blender and add almond milk, coconut water or whatever liquid you prefer (I used plain almond milk), then blend away. It’s as easy as that, and very tasty. The only note I will add is that one morning the contents were so frozen that they were a little difficult to get out of the cup, so I just let it thaw while I was in the shower and then emptied them into the blender afterward, which was perfect.
The deliveries come in subscription plans of six, 12 or 24 smoothies, depending on how many days each week/month you want one (the average cost per smoothie is $7). You can customize your selection to get exactly what you want, too, so you never get bored of drinking the same thing five days a week.
