The Water You Need to Know About

Micellar water may be the “it” product of 2015. Despite the fact that cleansing waters first became conventional in fancy French pharmacies, we’re now seeing more and more beauty companies launching them. If our instincts serve us right, you may be swapping your traditional cleanser for this new beauty staple.

How They Work

Comprised of small molecules in a water base, micellar waters contain cleansers that gently break down dirt, oil and all that other nasty stuff living on your skin. When applied to skin with a cotton ball in a sweeping motion, the water traps debris and lifts it off. Cleansing abilities aside, micellar waters don’t necessitate any rinsing at all (a plus for those who are serious about conserving water).

Why You Need Them

We’re fans of micellar water for the simple fact that it makes your skin feel clean and fresh. Whether you go for the more watery standard or one of the newer hybrid water-oils, like Decleor Cleansing Micellar Oil ($33), micellar water makes cleansing that much easier. Not to be confused with makeup remover (it will take it off, but you’re better off leaving the seriously stubborn eye makeup and such to the hardcore removers), these waters won’t irritate sensitive skin either.
