Gel manicures have made quite a name for themselves over the past year or so. Personally, I’ve never been much of a fan and have resorted to the chip-resistant manis strictly for travel purposes-nothing gets me more frustrated than freshly painted nails that chip or crack while I’m en route to my destination. But I may have been swayed in the other direction after trying the new Orly GelFX, which hits select salons this month.
A new take on gel polish, Orly GelFX is not only markedly quicker than other gel manicures-think about 30 minutes from start to finish thanks to LED light technology-but it also doesn’t leave the nails looking thick and, well, like you have gel on. Instead, the supershiny finish looks and feels just like regular nail polish. But the best part about it, in my opinion, is the wide array of colors to choose from-32 to be exact. Most of the shades are top sellers (so you can match your toes with traditional polish or use it to touchup regrowth) and with so many beautiful hues to choose from (think pale pinks, deep navy blues, purples and black and even fun metallics and glittery colors), I had a hard time narrowing it down to just one. But I did, and three days post-manicure my baby pink nails still look perfect, like I just stepped out of the salon.
