We’ve told you about the remarkable impact breast reduction surgery can have on the health and comfort of smaller-framed women. And now, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons have presented evidence that women of all sizes can reduce their risk of back problems with this procedure.
Evidence presented at ASPS conference in October 2009 shows that women who underwent breast reduction surgery for macromastia (overly large breasts) were then anble to perform more dynamic movements and better withstand static positions.
But perhaps most important is the reduction in spine stress and other kinds of pain, such as that from deep grooves on the shoulder from overworked bra straps.
It’s important to share health-related motivations for a breast reduction with your doctor, as some insurance companies are quick to label it cosmetic and refuse payment.
