During a study by Oxford University, 42 rats were switched from a low-fat diet to a high-fat diet. The researchers found that they had a reduction in both physical endurance and cognitive skills in little more than a week.

Although the medical community has long known that the risks of eating a high-fat diet far outweigh those of low-fat diets in the long term, little was known about the short-term effects of a high-fat diet prior to this surprising study.
