Eyebrows are, without a doubt, one of the most important features on our face. However, they typically either get too much love or way too little. While some women obsessively tweeze out every stray hair (and then some) with gusto, others completely forget their eyebrows are sitting right there, smack dab on their face.
It’s not difficult to maintain your brows, you just need to know what the best technique is to manage them. For those afraid of becoming too overzealous with the tweezers or for anyone who has bad reactions to waxing (think breakouts and ingrown hairs), it might be time to give brow threading a try.
One of the best beauty imports to the US, threading is a hair removal technique that originated in the Middle East and Asia and uses strong thread to pull out the root of the hair, while leaving the top layer of skin unscathed. It takes about 10 minutes to do a full pair of brows and is relatively painless. “When you thread, you pull by the hair follicle, so you won’t develop ingrowns and you won’t breakout like you might with wax,” says Glenn Alianza, senior threader for Ziba Beauty at the NewBeauty at Fred Segal store in Santa Monica, CA. “The technique is also extremely precise,” he says.
Threading is also a great option for women worried about fine lines and wrinkles or thinning of the skin because, “When you wax, you constantly pull the skin and strip the top layer, which can weaken the skin and make you lose elasticity in the brow area,” says Alianza.
Have you tried threading? What did you think of it?
