An often overlooked part of the body, the legs can fall victim to a variety of different problems and concerns that cause women to cover them up. Regular exercise is essential for toning your legs, but, if you’re building muscle and bulking up, as opposed to lengthening and toning, you may end up with less-than desirable results.
Pilates. “Pilates is probably one of the best workouts you can do to strengthen the core leg muscles,” says belly-dancing expert Amira Mor. “It helps improve your balance and generally gives you a long, lean look.”
Belly Dancing. Mor says that the exercise’s contracting movements of the abs and hips strongly rely on the legs as their main support. “That’s why it also works to tone the legs,” she says.
Squats and Lunges. Both squats and lunges focus solely on the legs, particularly the longer leg muscles, like the quadriceps, hamstrings, calves and even the lower part of the butt, to help tone them all at once.
