Claire Danes

Besides mastering the art of matching her eye shadow to her gorgeous gown, Claire’s hairstyle was one of soft and simple elegance.  Hairstylist Peter Butler breaks down how to recreate the Homeland star’s look.

1. Starting with her natural, low side-part, Butler blow-dried her hair and used the Vidal Sassoon Pro Series Boost & Lift Foaming Air Mousse ($6), applying it throughout the hair for lift and hold.

2. Using a 3-inch barrel curl, he set the hair section by section and curled.

3. Butler pulled the hair back into a ponytail and secured it using a hair elastic.

4. He started twisting hair clockwise around the base of the elastic, into a pretzel-like shape. Once all of the ends were tucked in, Butler secured the low chignon with 2-3 large bobby pins.

5. Butler was sure that around the edges of the face, the bits and pieces of the hair fell away to create a moveable structure.

6.To finish the look, Butler sprayed hair with Vidal Sassoon Pro Series Flexible Hold Hairspray ($5) to give it moveable hold.

Dakota Johnson

We’re obsessed with effortless waves and Dakota Johnson wore them flawlessly on the red carpet last night. Dove celebrity stylist Mark Townsend shows us how to get her look at home.

1. To create this sexy look, Townsend added four to five drops of Dove Pure Care Dry Oil Nourishing Treatment ($12) to damp hair.

2. Next, he added Dove Oxygen Moisture Root Lift Spray ($7) to her roots before blowing out hair with a large round brush.

3. In order to get a unique and imperfect wave, Townsend alternated between a double-barrel R Session tool iron and a 1-inch curling iron on 4-inch sections.

4. To top it off, he used R+Co Death Valley Dry Shampoo ($29) to get that piecey texture.

5. Finally, for extra shine, Townsend ran a dime-size amount of the new Dove Quench Absolute Supreme Crème Serum through her waves.

Gina Rodriguez

Old Hollywood glamour was a major trend on the red carpet, and the Jane the Virgin star rocked shiny, classic waves. Joico stylist Paul Norton shows us how to get this flawless hair at home.

1. Norton began Gina’s look on damp hair that was freshly washed with Joico Color Balance Blue shampoo and Conditioner to remove any brassiness from existing highlights.

2. Knowing that he intended on setting Gina’s hair to create a wave that was soft yet would hold all night, Norton first added Joico Power Whip ($17) from roots to ends. Then he blew out hair with a medium-size boar bristle round brush until fully dry.

3. Once the hair was dry, he took three large horizontal sections beginning at the bottom and sprayed Joico IronClad Thermal Protectant Spray ($17) gently throughout each section to protect the hair from heat styling.

4. Norton took sections beginning in the back in the bottom of the head and with a 1 1/4-inch curling iron he curled two-inch sections under. Using larger alligator hair clips, he secured each section in order to cool and create the perfect wave. As he made his way to the top section, he gave her a deep side-part on her right side and curled all of the hair under and away from the face, also securing those curls with large alligator hair pins.

5. Once the set was completed, he generously sprayed several coats of Joico Joi Mist Medium Styling and Finishing Spray ($17) over the entire head to help set the wave while the hair cooled.

6. Once the set had perfectly cooled and reformed, Norton removed the clips and released the curls starting from the bottom and working to the top. After every clip was removed, he asked Gina to tilt her head back and rest her neck on the back of the chair allowing him to vigorously run his fingers though her hair to break up each curl.

7. Next, Norton put a dime-size amount of Joico Crème Wax Texture and Shine ($16) in the palm of his hand and applied it to Gina’s hair from root to tip, finger-combing it all back away from the face. He began to place the hair, paying close attention to her face shape in order to make sure each wave rested at the most flattering point.

8. Norton then secured the waves with large metal hairpins to set in that form a little while longer while he brushed back the right side and secured it with several black bobby pins.

9.  Lastly, he sealed the entire head with Joico *Flip Turn Volumizing Finishing Spray ($17) to ensure that the voluminous waves would hold all night. He also sprayed Joico *K-PAK Color Therapy Dry Oil Spray ($18) for ample shine.

Kiera Knightley

Elegant updos were a popular hair trend at the Golden Globes, and Kiera’s soft and romantic ‘do was definitely swoon-worthy! Celebrity hairstylist Ben Skervin shows us how we can pull this look off at home.

1. Skervin first prepped the damp hair with Vidal Sassoon Pro Series Boost & Lift Foaming Air Mousse ($5), applying throughout the hair for lift and hold.

2. He blow-dried hair with a large round brush. Once dry, he took two-inch sections and sprayed each section with Vidal Sassoon Pro Series Flexible Hold Hairspray ($4).

3. Using a 1-inch barrel curling iron, Skervin wrapped the 2-inch sections of hair in a spiral down the curling iron, sliding hair off and allowing it to cool.

4. Once the curled hair cooled, he sprayed Vidal Sassoon ColorFinity Dry Shampoo ($4) into the roots. Skervin brushed the hair out to form waves and then backcombed the roots slightly.

5. He pulled hair back into a low, loose ponytail and secured it with a hair elastic. Then, he twisted the ponytail into a loose bun and used a combination of bobby pins and U-pins to hold the hair in place.

6. To finish, he sprayed hair with Vidal Sassoon Pro Series Flexible Hold Hairspray ($4) to keep flyaways in place.

Laura Prepon

The Orange is the New Black star sported sleek, side-swept hair that exuded glamour on the red carpet. Joico guest stylist Jonathan Colombini shares how he created her look (so we can get it at home!).

1. Colombini prepped Laura’s hair with Joico’s Smooth Cure Thermal Protectant Spray ($18) and added Joico’s Body Luxe Volumizing Elixir ($18) at the root to ensure the hair didn’t lay flat.

2. He blow-dried hair using a round brush to smooth the ends and give a little flexibility.

3. With a deep side-part, Colombini pin-curl set Laura’s hair with a 1.5-inch barrel marcel iron. Before curling, he sprayed each subsection with Joico’s Iron Clad Thermal Protectant Spray ($17).

4. After the pin-curl set cooled, he dropped each section. With her hair flipped over, Colombini used Joico’s Flip Turn Volumizing Finishing Hairspray ($17). With a Mason Pearson brush, he lightly brushed each curl out to create a loose, sexy wave.

Pro Tip: Curl every section in the same direction so that when they drop and connect, they form together and become a uniformed wave.

5. Colombini gave a final spray with Joico’s KPAK Color Therapy Dry Oil Spray ($18) to add protection and shine.

Naomi Watts

Naomi not only wowed us with her bright yellow gown, but also with her modern twist on the retro wave. Celebrity hairstylist Cervando shows us how we can get Naomi’s red-carpet hair at home.

1. Beginning on damp hair, Cervando used his fingers to rake a golf ball–sized amount of Moroccanoil Volumizing Mousse ($28) from root to tip, throughout the entire head. Next, he used a comb to distribute the product evenly through hair.

2. He applied Moroccanoil Root Boost ($29) throughout the entire head to create a foundation for volume and texture. He used a comb to create a deep side-part and then rough-dried hair with his hands.

3. Next, section by section, he blow-dried hair with Moroccanoil’s 35mm Boar Bristle Round Brush ($84) for a soft and smooth finish.

4. Once the hair was fully dry, he sectioned it off at the top of the head and set the sections in Velcro rollers.

5. Alternating between 1-inch and 1.5-inch curling irons, Cervando wrapped 1-inch sections of hair around the barrels—leaving the ends straight—to create a modern, natural wave.

6. Once completed, he removed the Velcro rollers and used the Moroccanoil Classic Boar Bristle Brush to smooth hair into place, sweeping the hair across the forehead.

6. To finish the look, Cervando misted hair with Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray ($23) to add shine, texture and long-lasting hold.

Rosamund Pike

Rosamund set the tone with her asymmetrical bob that looked modern and amazing. With the help of stylist Kylee Rea Heath, we can get her fabulous look at home.

1. On damp hair, Heath applied Oscar Blandi Hair Lift Mousse ($23) throughout the roots and spray Oscar Blandi Jasmine Protein Mist ($19) from the mid-shaft through the ends and combed through the hair.

2. She then created a deep, straight side-part with a tail comb.

3. With a small round brush, Heath blow-dried hair on a low setting to work shine and volume into the hair.

4. Once the hair was dry, she sprayed Oscar Blandi Dry Heat Protect Spray ($24) onto the hair and smoothed out the ends with a flat iron.

Pro Tip: It’s key to only hit the ends with the iron to maintain volume at the roots.

5. She applied a small amount of Oscar Blandi Polish Glossing Creme ($25) to the ends to polish and smooth away any flyaways around the part.

6. Heath tucked the left side behind the ear and sprayed Oscar Blandi Lacca Medium Hold Hair Spray ($25) to finish and add more shine.
