Honey-Infused Spa Treatments

Incorporating the honey from its own bee colonies, The Brown Palace Hotel & Spa in Downtown Denver has several unique spa treatments starring honey. The Queen Bee Body Scrub combines organic brown sugar with the spa’s own honey (derived from the hotel’s rooftop honeybees) to exfoliate, hydrate and balance the skin’s pH levels.

The Spa team at The Brown Palace has also developed a signature line of products, Bee Royalty, so guests can enjoy the benefits of honey at home. We love the natural Honey Lavender Soap, which is handmade in small batches in Denver. Plus, portions of the proceeds from the Bee Royalty signature products are donated to the Denver Beekeeper Association.

Home to a Maya honeybee colony on site, The Sandos Caracol Eco-Resort & Spa located in the Mexican Caribbean, infuses local culture and traditions into their spa treatments. In an effort to protect the endangered specials, the resort is home to a Maya honeybee colony. Twice a year a Mayan Shaman performs a ritual bee ceremony, which requests permission from the bees to extract honey for use in the spa’s rituals such as the Nourishing Ancient Maya Ritual, a therapeutic treatment that feeds the skin with vitamins and nutrients.

Located in the beautiful Texas Hill County, lies Travaasa Austin. The resort offers a variety of original spa treatments that incorporates local flavor, including the new Hill Country Honey Bee Massage and Body Treatment. Harnessing the healing power of honey, the massage and body treatment nourishes and exfoliates the skin. The treatment includes a soothing bee propolis compress, and a myofacial massage using warm organic honey and ginger massage oil. The grand finale is a facial mask of royal jelly, bee proplois, jojoba and avacado oils. And if this treatment isn’t sweet enough, a portion of proceeds are donated to the Texas Beekeepers Association.

Tucked away in a private canyon outside the town of Calistoga is Calistoga Ranch, home of The Bathhouse spa. A commitment to nature and re-building the honeybee population in Nappa Vally inspired the ranch’s Bee Well program which includes honey-infused spa treatments as well as a mobile observation bee hive, home to four hives—each with up to 30,000 bees. Bee Well Spa Treatments range from body wraps to foot massages and all include the spa’s own mixed floral honey.

The Auberge Spa at Esperanza incorporates an array of local fruits and vegetables into their spa offerings. A romantic treatment for two, the spa’s honey-centric Damiana Alegra treatment beings in a private pool and is followed by a body exfoliation with native ingredients and sea essence. Next, couples recieve a honey and flower wrap while enjoying scalp and foot massages. After rinsing off together, couples end the treatment with a relaxing coconut oil massage.

The Peninsula Beverly Hills: The Spa offers luxurious treatments with ingredients produced by honeybees, including the 90-minutes Brazillian Propolis Body Wrap. The relaxing treatment utilizes propolis, a natural ingredient produced by honeybees in the Brazilian rainforest with great healing properites. Rich in antioxidants, it is applied to skin and massaged with warm coconut milk for hydrating and healing effects.

Overlooking the Nappa Valley, the Auberge Spa at Auberge du Soleil, Napa Valley utilizes natural ingredients indigenous to the region. During the fall, guests can enjoy the Honey Fig Body Quench. The 90-minute treatment includes ripe figs and honey to nourish your skin with antioxidants and vitamins. Natural fruit acid provides gentle exfoliation and massage techniques oxygenate your skin.

With its own hive of local melipne bees, it’s only natural that the spa at the The Viceroy Riviera Maya specializes in honey treatments. The hotel’s 70-year old beehive came from a Mayan village and now hangs in the branch of an oak tree. The honey is harvested for use in several services and treatments as well as their special Honey Balm. Hunan Kab or the Sweet Honey and Rain Massage is done on a treatment table in the jungle surrounding the resort and incorporates drops of honey rain water. This treatment is performed during the rainy season—July through October.

Qua Baths and Spa at Caesars Palace offers several spa treatments incorporating honey such as When in Rome, which includes a honey lavender salt scrub and Italian Breeze, which includes a rejuvenating honey oat yogurt mask. Tuscan Romance is a 75 minute treatment for two that includes a whipped honey body exfoliation. Romantinc and relaxing, the treatment begins with a coconut scalp massage and ends side-by-side couples’ massage after a shower for two.
