September marks National Honey Month. Why September? Because most of the honey in the United States is harvested during this month. According to the National Honey Board, Americans consume about 1.3 pounds of honey per person each year. Now more than ever, people are realizing the amazing versatility of the all-natural ingredient. Its sweet taste is old news, but the popularity of honey and it’s skin-saving benefits is making its way into many beauty products and treatments. Honey is a humectant, so it attracts and retains moisture which makes it ideal for cleansers, creams, shampoos, conditioners and spa treatments. In honor of National Honey Month, flip through to see some of our favorite treatments starring honey.

Incorporating the honey from its own bee colonies, The Brown Palace Hotel & Spa in Downtown Denver has several unique spa treatments starring honey. The Queen Bee Body Scrub combines organic brown sugar with the spa’s own honey (derived from the hotel’s rooftop honeybees) to exfoliate, hydrate and balance the skin’s pH levels.

The Spa team at The Brown Palace has also developed a signature line of products, Bee Royalty, so guests can enjoy the benefits of honey at home. We love the natural Honey Lavender Soap, which is handmade in small batches in Denver. Plus, portions of the proceeds from the Bee Royalty signature products are donated to the Denver Beekeeper Association.
