Dr. Fredric Brandt, a trailblazer at the forefront of dermatologic and aesthetic innovations, passed away earlier this month at the age of 65. In the days since his untimely death, The Allergan Foundation has announced they have partnered with the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS) to form The Frederic Brandt Innovations in Aesthetics Fellowship Fund in Dr. Brandt’s honor.
The Allergan Foundation has committed $300,000 to the Fund to support the research and educational needs of two Fellows a year enrolled in the ASDS-accredited Cosmetic and Dermatologic training program. “Specifically, the Fund will support their research in clinical cosmetic dermatologic surgery during their fellowship year, expenses to participate in an ASDS Preceptorship or another ASDS-accredited Cosmetic Dermatologic Surgery Fellowship Program to learn a technique(s) not taught at the Fellow’s home Fellowship Program, and a scholarship to attend the ASDS Annual Meeting,” according to the brand.
“ASDS is honored that The Allergan Foundation wants to celebrate Dr. Brandt’s legacy by helping to train the next generation of dermatologic surgeons,” stated ASDS President George J. Hruz in the official press release. “It’s a fitting tribute to his life as he always volunteered his time to educate physicians at medical conferences, including multiple sessions at our ASDS Annual Meeting.”
The press release also stated the fund is open to those wishing to donate at any level in tribute to Dr. Brandt’s life.
