Hairspray certainly isn’t what it used to be. Gone are the days of the “Roman helmet” effect where you could bounce a tennis ball off your bouffant. Now, you can get weightless hold and control from gentle sprays that add shine and reduce frizz.
I particularly like White Sands Liquid Texture, which my hairstylist recommended and also happens to be the spray most often chosen by movie studio hairstylists. It comes in three different formulations-medium, soft and firm-depending on whether you want to use it for wet or dry hairstyling.
The medium and soft versions can be used for wet or dry. The firm hold is primarily for dry hair to hold the style in place and reduce frizz. I’m still learning how to distribute the spray evenly because it uses a pump (rather than the old-fashioned ozone-unfriendly aerosol), but in general, I really like the way it works. It’s amazing that something so light can hold so well!
