With studio-esque workouts gaining popularity (think yoga, pilates and ballet-barre), women everywhere are taking off their sneakers. But while bare feet are ideal for many of these workouts, it’s not always the most hygienic solution. Now that the “no shoes” workout trend is in full force, it makes sense that footwear giant Nike would want to get in on the game.
From my experiences, I’ve found that the right footwear makes a world of difference—most studios recommend socks with grip. However, the one’s I’ve tried don’t give me quite the right amount of grip that I’m looking for. There’s nothing more annoying than trying to hold a plank with your feet sliding around. But the Nike Studio Wraps ($110) give you tremendous grip so you can show that plank who’s boss.
The one set back is that when you actually do want your feet to slide around, it’s a little problematic. I’ve learned how to angle my feet just right so that I can avoid the grips and still hold the move I’m trying to do.
They fit really snuggly to your feet, so you won’t have to worry about them slipping off. They also have holes for your toes to help give you additional grip and even stability. And you don’t have to be a barre fan to enjoy these either. They’re great for yoga, pilates, dance classes and any other type of workout that doesn’t require shoes.
My favorite part is the ribbons they come with that you can wrap around your feet to give you that dainty ballerina look. Even if they didn’t work as well as they did, I’d still want to wear them because they’re so stylish. In fact, the first time I tried them on, I was really tempted to wear them at the office. And, you don’t really have to take them off since they come with slip on flats that go over them—great for going to and from a workout.
I felt like they gave me an “I mean business” look that pushed me to work even harder in my classes. There’s nothing like great footwear to motivate you to take your workout to the next level.
