A new survey from the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) says that 63 percent of cosmetic dentists expect their business to experience at least moderate growth in 2011. Why? In a word: technology.
According to the survey, new technologies are reducing patient office time at least 50 percent, increasing patient safety as well as making the entire dental experience easier and more comfortable.
In addition to digital X-Rays and computer-aided dentistry, dentists say that in 2011 there will be increased use of Apple iPads and iPhones. Dentists are charting, displaying x-rays, managing dental records, improving diagnoses and educating their patients-all from their Apple devices. Additionally, several new iPhone apps are emerging, including apps that help doctors connect with patients, confirm appointments, learn about the office staff, request medication refills and more. Have you noticed technological advances in your dentist’s office? If so, how do you like it?
