From being a contestant on The Bachelor and The Bachelor in Paradise, to becoming The Bachelorette herself, Tayshia Adams has quite literally taken over Bachelor Nation. In addition to her Bachelor-related endeavors, Adams has expanded her professional horizons with several passion projects and brand partnerships with athleisure companies like HOKA and Asics, and now, the star has entered the beauty world with her latest collaboration scünci + Conair x Tayshia. Recently, I was lucky enough to sit down with the incredibly humble and amazingly personable Tayshia to get the inside scoop on her first line of hair products and talk all things goals, products, winter-weather hair hacks and more.

What inspired you to partner with a hair brand like Scünci and Conair? What has hair styling meant to you?

“Growing up as a kid, I think it’s safe to say that almost all of us have owned a Conair or scünci product—whether it was a hair accessory or a hair tool—so to partner with a brand that has been so prominent in my life as a way of expressing myself is truly surreal. And as a woman that aspires to empower other women, it’s so special to work with a brand that empowers women with something as personal as hair from such an early age.

I feel like one physical quality we invest in that serves as a confidence booster, or as a comfort, is our hair! Whatever it may look like—bald, pixie, shoulder length, or long hair—hair is used as an extension of expressing our personality. We do it in different ways for school, work, weddings, dates, or to feel sexy, fierce, rebellious, put together, confident and even when we feel none of those things and just want to chill out!”

What are your insider tips for styling this new collection?

“Less is more; simple chic is best. The hair accessories were done in a way that you can stack a few or just wear one or two and look polished. Running around all day like many of us do typically doesn’t allow for much of an outfit change or an hour to touch up your hair, so with a few accessories you can store in your purse or bag, you can always quickly go from workout to Zoom and in-office presentable, or be ready quickly for a girls night or a date!”

What have you learned about on-camera makeup and hair tips?

“My best advice is to perfect one style that you can easily alter! If flowy curls are your thing, stick with that, but have some cute accessories you can easily pop in to elevate or change up a look! You don’t always have all the time you think you do when filming, so having your go-to hairstyles with your favorite tools on hand makes it so much easier. For me, the items that I would rely on from my collection if I were packing to leave right now, would be my Tayshia by Conair Tourmaline Ceramic Hair Dryer ($39), my Double Ceramic Flat Iron ($34) (because you can do both a straight sleek look and a create gorgeous flat iron curls in minutes), and all my cute bobby-pins! Stick to what you know, but have a little fun with it.”

What are your favorite products right now?

“My favorite product right now is my LightStim for Acne ($169) since my skin has really been reacting to this weather change. For my hair, Tayshia by Conair 2-in-1 Pop-up Dual Scalp Scrape Round Brush ($9) has become my little bedside secret weapon to help stimulate hair growth before I go to bed. I’m OBSESSED with the Tatcha Kissu Restorative Lip Mask ($28), it’s a 10/10, trust me. Some of my other sure-fire favorites are the SkinMedica TNS Advanced Serum ($265), the Supergoop Glowscreen ($36), my 20 oz water cup from Starbucks, Sakara Sleep Tea ($20), and SkinCeuticals Blemish + Age Defense ($96)—that one saves my life!”

What are your tips for keeping your hair healthy from season to season?

“My main tip to keeping your hair healthy and change it up! I have a few items on rotation that are under the same category, but I think provide different results. A few things I try and do to keep my hair healthy include weekly hair masks. The three I love and can’t live without are my Kérastase Nutritive Hair Mask ($60), Davines Hair Mask Pouches ($11), and the Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair! Hair Mask ($39). My hair is fine, curly, and tends to run dry, so moisturizing it with a deep hair mask really helps keep its elasticity, shine, and overall health. Scalp health is also crucial to healthy hair, which is why I wanted to add the dual scalp brush to my collection. When used in the shower and paired with a good shampoo like the Briogeo Scalp Revival Dandruff Relief Shampoo($42), you can use the tool to help release any product build-up and clarify the scalp, which I always find helps my hair grow, keeps dandruff away, and makes my hair shiny! Lastly, use a heat protectant always. And a silk pillowcase is a must!”

What are you most looking forward to before the end of the year?

“I have a mission trip coming up, so I’m really excited for that! Especially around this time of year, with the holidays coming, I love helping others in need and spreading love to those who aren’t as fortunate as to have friends and family around. In NYC, I am really looking forward to throwing some dinner parties, like Friendsgiving and a little white elephant party with friends since my place has finally come together design-wise! Also, I’m excited about going home to Orange County and being with my family for the holidays. It helps me recharge and fill my love tank.”
