Tanner Isn’T Always Better

Not everyone feels that tan is the best look for their skin; like me, for example. Living in South Florida, I’m constantly surrounded by naturally and artificially tanned bodies. It’s pretty much an American epidemic. I prefer staying fair-skinned-my coloring is similar to that of Liv Tyler-and I have to look east (far east) to find products that help keep fair skin looking more porcelain than pasty. Japanese beauty brands Sekkisei and Shiseido have created a range of skin-care products that keep in tradition with the ancient cultural desire for fair skin.

One of Sekkisei’s best-selling products translates to Cream for a Supple, Snow-White Complexion. It promises that every use brings skin closer to snow-white, translucent complexion, thanks to oriental herbs that help regulate melanin production.

Shiseido’s new collection, White Lucent, benefits not only the fair-skinned, but anyone who wants to achieve a retextured, brightened look. The collection includes the Intensive Mask ($66), Moisturizing Cream ($50), Concentrated Serum ($115), Moisturizing Emulsion ($50), Moisturizing Gel ($48), Protective Moisturizing with SPF 16 ($48), and Refining Softener ($44).

Shiseido also recently introduced their new Bio-Performance collection, which includes the super-luxurious Advanced Super Revitalizer Whitening Formula ($96).
