It’s 2011 and while we’re pretty advanced as a society, we still don’t have flying cars or a cure for cancer. But there are some amazing advancements. According to new research, we could be just five years away from a sunscreen pill.
Scientists in the U.K. have discovered a unique way that coral protects itself from harmful ultraviolet rays and the researchers are currently developing a synthetic compound based on the natural mechanism. If the research progresses as planned, it’s possible than a sunscreen pill can be a reality in five years time. The pill would most likely be available by prescription only in order to eliminate the risk of overdose or threatening one’s health. We’ll have to stay tuned to learn about future developments on this potential sunscreen pill, but so far we like everything we’re hearing.
