Doing my hair is like cooking. I watched my mother do it for me for years, but I never picked up the skills. I almost always wear my hair down or in an I-don’t-care ponytail, wishing I could create pretty buns. So when Goody introduced their Spin Pin, I felt like I’d found the microwave of updos.
These curiously spiraling wires are said to do the work of 20 bobby pins-a huge relief to me since I don’t even know what to do with just one. The instructions have you twist your hair into a bun and tuck in the ends, which is usually my stopping point, and then simply twist in one of the pins from the top and the other in from the bottom.
It’s shockingly secure and even more shockingly easy-the only challenge is ensuring the pins don’t get intertwined. The brunette ones stayed perfectly hidden in my hair, never giving away my simple secret.
I can finally wear a pretty little bun with the best of them! (And no one ever has to know that it took zero talent.)
