The majority of us use sunscreen incorrectly, leaving ourselves vulnerable to undesirable health and beauty consequences.
The number-one problem, according to dermatologists, is that we don’t use sun protection 365 days a year from sun-up to sundown. Very few people consider applying any for a quick errand run, and even if they do, they may not use enough.
No matter the season or activity, always apply a shot-glass-worth of sunscreen 30 minutes before heading outside, and reapply often, since the sun itself breaks down the sunscreen over time. And it goes without saying that you should reapply after swimming or excessive sweating (even if your sunscreen says its waterproof or sweat-proof).
And remember: it doesn’t work where you don’t put it. Pay close attention to your ears, under your chin, and the back of your neck.
