Depending on how you spent your college years, you may associate a number of smells with your university: dusty library books, a freshly-mowed football field, beer-it varies from alumnus to alumnus. But one perfumer is intent on capturing the scent of your alma mater in way that evokes happy memories and newfound school pride.
The minds behind Masik Collegiate Fragrances are well aware of the close ties between memory and our sense of smell, so instead of creating yet another celebrity-endorsed eau de toilette, they focused on a concept with a completely different kind of fan base: state schools. Masik has already introduced men’s colognes and women’s perfumes for Louisiana State University, the University of North Carolina, and Penn State; Auburn and the Universities of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee are next in line for launch.
In order to pinpoint the perfect, personalized scent for each university, the perfumer took into consideration each one’s geography, history, architecture, colors, mascot, traditions, flora and other defining characterists.
The result, according to company founder Katie Masich, is “a new and unique way for students, alumni and fans to celebrate and experience their collegiate passions.”
