July 11, 2016: It’s a big day for Slurpee lovers. Not only is everyone’s favorite brain-freeze free when you stop by your local 7-Eleven, but it’s also a big birthday for the brand, as the frozen concoction turns 50 today. It even made a special birthday-cake flavor to mark the occasion—and, yep, that flavor was free too.

But, as Mic is reporting, you might be stopped in you convenience-store tracks once you hear how much sugar is in a large one. It comes in at a whooping 134 grams, a number that’s approximately two-and-a-half days worth of the current Dietary Guidelines recommendation for the sweet stuff—or the crazy equivalent to three regular Snickers bars.

Furthermore, Forbes reports that the ingredient list pretty much is consisted of a bunch of chemicals blended in water. In addition to massive amounts of high-fructose corn syrup, you’re also drinking citric acid preservatives, artificial flavors (who knows what this even means!), and a potentially dangerous petroleum-based food dye called Red 40.

Of course, you could just downsize. A small Slurpee, which rings in at 8 ounces, only has 18 grams of sugar, but that’s still right around half the recommended daily intake. This might be one of those cases where skipping out on the freebie turns out to be the best idea.
