5 Must-Try Skin Care Products You've Never Heard of Before

The Indie Beauty Expo is one of the best places to discover new and exciting beauty products—the kind you won't find at Target, Sephora or Ulta. With 227 brands featured at this year's three-day show in New York, there was a lot to see, but these five products stood out above the rest.

Pour Moi Tropical Day Cream ($35)

The first and only climate-smart skin care brand, Pour Moi formulates its products to cater to skin concerns in every type of climate—tropical, desert, polar and temperate—so you can find the right one for your needs. This lightweight day cream is designed for those who live in tropical climates where the temperature, humidity and UV index are all high and the constant exposure to air conditioning makes matters worse. To combat those aggressors, the formula features ingredients like free radical–fighting antioxidants, pore-clearing coconut acid and moisture-boosting humectants—a winning combination.

Red Earth Hydrate Refreshing Cleanser With Tasmanian Sea Kelp ($20)

Although this brand has been a favorite in Australia since 1991, the U.S. beauty industry isn't keen on it just yet. But, that's about to change. Targeted at millennials, but worthy of everyone no matter their age, Red Earth makes products that celebrate "raw beauty and effortless style," which is a trend right now no matter where you live. This sulfate- and paraben-free cleanser is creamy yet light—it's the perfect way to take the day off at night and refresh your skin in the morning.

Petite Amie Skincare Baby Masque ($10)

You may think this skin care brand is French based on its name (Petite Amie is the French term for "girlfriend"), but it's actually based in Taiwan and launched in the U.S. last year. We can't get enough of its fun, expertly designed masks, which are all formulated with good-for-your skin ingredients that work to visibly improve your complexion. New to the brand's popular Emoji collection is this Baby Masque, a sheet mask that features hydrolyzed rice protein and collagen to make skin feel super soft and look smoother and plumper in just 10 minutes. Plus, how cute would this be as a baby shower gift?

Moonlit Skincare Midnight Shift Overnight Facial Oil ($34)

"Nighttime is skin care primetime" is one of the brand's mottos, and it couldn't be more spot on. As you sleep, your skin goes into repair mode and its protective barrier weakens, which allows for better absorption of any products you apply, including this silky, lavender-scented oil. We love it for three key reasons: It smooths and hydrates dull, tired skin overnight; it's vegan, cruelty-free and formulated without parabens, sulfates and synthetic fragrances; and its packaging is not only pretty, but also recyclable. And did we mention it's created by hand in Bali?

A Complete Highly Concentrated Youth Preserve Serum ($54)

Inspired by the Mediterranean diet and lifestyle, which focuses on overall health and simplicity, A Complete skin care products utilize innovative marine and botanical ingredients to target visible signs of aging such as lines and wrinkles, sagging skin and dark spots. The second step in the brand's five-step routine, this oil-free, nongreasy serum works on a cellular level to transform dry, aging skin over time. Plus, the addition of plankton extract in the ingredient lineup helps deliver a brightening and repairing effect. Talk about multitasking.
