The 10 Coolest New Products Discovered at Cosmoprof
By Liz Ritter, Executive Editor |
For lack of a better descriptor, Cosmoprof can only be expressed as “Sephora on steroids.” Row after row of beauty product sampling, testing and trend-spotting await anyone who walks through the doors of the Vegas trade show—a space that literally seems to span over several football fields (pro tip: wear flats!).
And last week’s 2016 rendition was no different. Almost 34,000 people attended, 1,154 exhibitors set up shop from 38 different companies, and there were lots and lots of products. Here are 10 we loved most.

It’s 100-percent natural and you can actually pronounce all the ingredients on the packaging (some of them are even edible), but the best thing about this lash/brow serum is that it actually works, minus the threat of side effects. I’ve been using it for about five days and I’ve already seen a noticeable difference.
It looks so simple, but this plush cylinder-meets-memory-foam is set to revolutionize how we style our hair. You wash at night, wrap these around strands while they are still damp, and as you sleep they kind of soak up the water and style your hair at the same time. You don’t wake up with perfectly coiffed hair, but you do achieve very believable “beachy waves” and save a whole lot of extra time.
There were so many off-the-radar, super-intoxicating perfumes at the show, but this release definitely stood out. It’s pretty much a whole new category of fragrance—a patent-pending invention that helps extend your scent, sort of similar to how a makeup primer works. You just spritz it on and it creates an invisible shield on your skin that has the added bonus of bringing new life to the notes.
CLE Melting Lip Powder ($20)
Say hello to your new K-beauty go-to. It’s a powdered lip product that looks really out-there in the tube; as soon as you apply it, it turns into a matte, highly pigmented stain that lasts for hours. (You can also wear it as blush and eye shadow and the shades work for everyone.)
The coconut oil craze just got a new contender in the ring. These 100-percent pure liquid coconut oils can be used as a facial cleanser, makeup remover, hydrator and style helper for the hair. There are some botanicals and aromatherapy benefits added in, but the biggest plus is that the formula never turns solid and is safe for even the most sensitive skin types.
It’s not in the U.S. yet, but this easy-to-use brow line (there are only five products total but they’re all totally foolproof) from Australia is nothing short of amazing. Even the most challenged makeup users can create fuller-looking, more defined brows via products that are buildable and compact—and uncomplicated—enough to go with you anywhere.
